Hunza Pie – Funny Name Seriously Good Pie

Hunza Pie
A recipe that is healthy and really tasty almost feels like oxymoron and in so many circumstances it tastes like one too.  This recipe, however, is really healthy and really tasty.  To top it off and form the ultimate cooking hat trick, this Hunza Pie is really quick and easy to make.

Don’t be afraid of the brown rice, it only adds to the taste and texture.  If you are really terrified about the prospect of eating brown rice, feel free to use normal, white rice.

Hunza Pie

  • 2-3 Sheets Shortcrust Pastry
  • 6-8 Silver beet or Spinach Leaves
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2C Brown Rice (cooked)
  • 113G (4oz) Cheese (grated)
  • 1Tbsp Oil
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Clove Garlic (crushed)
  • Line pie dish with pastry
  • Wash and dry spinach and shred finely
  • Mix all ingredients – season to tasteSilverbeet Mix
  • Fill pastry case with spinach mix
  • Cover with remaining pastry
